Canadian Aviation Pride (CAP) is the national home for Canada's LGBTQ+ aviation community, dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion across the industry.

We began in 2008 as a simple idea: creating a safe space for gay pilots in Toronto to connect and support one another. What started as small social gatherings quickly grew. By the end of that year, Vancouver had joined the movement. By 2012, our community had expanded well beyond pilots, welcoming engineers, air traffic controllers, enthusiasts, and supporters from every corner of the industry. In 2013, we officially adopted the name Canadian Aviation Pride and marched in our first Pride parades in Toronto and Vancouver, proudly representing LGBTQ+ aviation professionals on a national stage.

In 2016, CAP became a federally incorporated not-for-profit, cementing its place as a national organization. By 2017, CAP had an active presence in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montréal, bringing LGBTQ+ aviation professionals and allies together through networking opportunities across the country.

Today, CAP operates coast-to-coast with programming in major aviation centres and a growing national reach. Our network connects over 1,000 aviation professionals, students, and allies, spanning airlines, airports, manufacturers, regulators, and educational institutions, supported by strong partnerships across the aviation ecosystem.

2025 marked a milestone for our community: CAP hosted its inaugural gala, welcoming over one hundred guests from across the aviation industry. Together, we celebrated our shared commitment to inclusion and awarded $11,000 in scholarships to outstanding LGBTQ+ students and allies. Building on that momentum, CAP is awarding $20,000 in scholarships in 2026 to support the next generation of LGBTQ+ aviation professionals and allies.

In 2026, we will also launch the Aviation Inclusivity Summit, our second national signature initiative. The Summit will bring together aviation leaders, employers, policymakers, and community members to share best practices, elevate lived experiences, and advance meaningful progress around equity and inclusion in aviation.

We are more than a network. We are a vibrant community that advocates, educates, and celebrates, from pride events and professional mentorship to scholarships and industry partnerships. We create spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in aviation feel welcomed, respected, and valued.

Join us as we chart the future of LGBTQ+ inclusion in Canadian aviation.
