With growing momentum, CAP became a federally incorporated not-for-profit in 2016, formalizing our structure while continuing to build meaningful connections. We expanded beyond social events, participating in educational tours, career expos, and industry networking opportunities. By 2017, CAP had established local groups in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, and Montréal, reflecting our national reach.
Since 2018, CAP has deepened its partnerships with aviation companies, supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives across the industry. We’ve provided resources, led inter-company discussions, and published fact sheets and articles to foster inclusive workplaces. In 2019, we launched our first Aviation Mentoring Event for LGBTQ+ youth, co-hosted with the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity and supported by Jazz Aviation and a dozen industry partners.
In 2023, CAP introduced its first scholarship program, awarding $1,500 to support LGBTQ+ individuals pursuing careers in aviation. Thanks to incredible community and industry support, this initiative has grown exponentially, with over $10,000 in scholarships and awards available for the 2025 cycle.
Today, CAP continues to be at the forefront of inclusion in aviation. We’re more than just a network—we’re a vibrant community that advocates, educates, and celebrates diversity. From pride events to professional mentorship, scholarships, and industry partnerships, we create spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies in aviation feel welcomed, respected, and valued.
